Catch The Mobile Wave…

June 26, 2009, Category: Articles

Just read an article over at Mashable that has me breathing a sigh of relief…

You see, I’ve been betting for the last year that video on your phone would be a great marketing strategy.  It was hit-and-miss there for a while but…

The folks at Mashable believe that Mobile Video is at a tipping point – finally being pushed over the edge by the new Iphone 3GS.  In case you didn’t know, Apple has rolled out its next iPhone and it’s "insanely great".

One of it’s more popular features is it’s video capability which allows you to record, edit, and watch high-quality  video right on the phone. Finally turning your phone into a real video tool.

So what does all this mean for you?

It means a fresh new audience for your web videos.  Now, uploading your video to YouTube or creating your own podcast site can attract prospects who are eagerly watching video on their new iPhones.

In fact, YouTube reported that mobile video downloads have increased by 400% since the iPhone 3GS debut last Friday.

You can get started by simply converting your existing video content to MP4 format and including your video in your blog’s rss feed (see an example).  Or you can up the ante and create an ongoing podcast series that you can upload to itunes for free. Let me know if you would like me to shoot a video on how to do this.

Either way you go, it’s time for you upgrade your video skills and join the wave…

Remember, video still offers you an advantage on the search engines. Gives you credibility with new prospects. And can be easily reused as content for new products. Now, you can use it to attract a whole new crowd of fans.  Not bad.

Let me know what you think.
